Station Reviews

The Keystone Service has terminus stations of Harrisburg on one end and New York City on the other. Moynihan Train Hall is a tourist attraction as well as very busy inter modal station. You will want to arrive a bit early to tour the station. Although it’s a lovely structure, Harrisburg Station is not a tourist attraction but it is a comfortable place to wait for your train. You can check your baggage at both stations but only Moynihan has a Metropolitan Lounge.

Harrisburg Station

Harrisburg Station is a beautiful red brick building in Queen Anne style. This depot was orginally built in 1887 but was renovated in 1904 after a fire nearly destroyed it. It is a National Historic Landmark. It is a staffed station with checked baggage service and several other services available. You can also grab some food to eat and even use the convenient ATM.

The two closest hotels are the Crowne Plaza Harrisburg-Hershey and the Hilton Harrisburg.

Penn Station – Moynihan Train Hall

You will board your Amtrak train in Moynihan Train Hall in New York. It’s a gorgeous hall with 92 ft high skylights and modern amenities. It is a world class station. You will find restaurants as well as convenience stores.

There are lots of options for hotels near this station. The closest option is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Penn Station.

Trip Planning

From New York City your options are almost limitless. You could take the Acela To Washington DC or get on the Lake Shore Limited or Cardinal to Chicago. If you want to head down south you could ride the Silver Star to Florida or the Crescent to Atlanta and New Orleans.
